Harper Auction & Realty is teaming up with HSR (Historic
Sportscar Racing) and Classic Motorsports Magazine to bring you,
the Classic Car Enthusiast, what will come to be known as
"EVERYMAN'S AUCTION" - Auction at the Mitty!
We are piggy-backing on the excitement brought to our hobby by
such high profile Automobile Auctions as Barrett-Jackson, RM,
Russo & Steele and Kruse International, but we are doing it in a little
different way. We want this to be an auction for the "rest of us". I
don't know about you, but my wife would not understand if I spent
$5.5 million for a Shelby Cobra, but she may let me live if I bought a
nice running Z-car or Fiat 124 Spider project for -say- $3,000. By
offering a fun event in a great venue, to be enjoyed along with a
great vintage race and club event weekend, we aim to have an array
of great classics in all stages of restoration to meet the "dream"
needs of real guys and gals like US!
For us, this is where business meets pleasure. Mike Harper is an
amateur restorer and classic car nut from way back, and owns and
drives his own classics, so we know and love the market. The next
best thing to owning a whole stable of classic cars, is selling them
at auction, and that is the plan for April 26, 2008 at the Road Atlanta
"Walter Mitty" vintage race weekend
Now don't get me wrong, we are not planning a "junker" sale, far
from it! We plan to have some very nice examples of some of the
best classics of all times, but simply put, many of our offerings will
be within the price range of the "normal" classic car enthusiast. We
are now accepting consignments, so you will have the entire next
year to get the car "ready for the block". There is no time like now
to get started in putting the inventory together. Click the link below
to contact us about consigning YOUR classic for Auction At The
Mitty!

Here's how it works: Call or e-mail us with your proposed
consignment. Send a good description and digital photos if you
have them. We will evaluate your car and determine if it is right for
this particular event. If so, we will e-mail you a consignment
contract for review. We will have exclusive right to sell your car
from March 26, 2008 thru the Auction date (April 26, 2008) plus 30
days, in case we get a bite on Auction day, but the deal comes
through a little later. We will be advertising your car extensively in
print media as well as on the Internet.
We can sell your car either with reserve or without reserve. We can
discuss the advantages of each type of sale with you. In short a
"No Reserve " listing will get much more pre-sale interest and more
action on sale day both by live and absentee bids because the
bidders know that the seller means business and the car will sell.
The end price will probably be enhanced due to the "No Reserve"
feature. On the other hand, with a reserve price established you are
protected from a sale for far less than you had anticipated or
bargained for. There is a cost associated with a reserve sale,
however. A "block fee" or "no sale" fee of $200 will be paid up front,
and will be retained if the car does not sell. If the car sells, then the
block fee will be credited to the commission. Block Fees must be
paid 30 days prior to Auction Day. There is no additional "entry fee"
for a Harper Classic Auto Auction!
You are responsible for getting your car to the sale site at your own
expense. We will help coordinate a delivery carrier if you wish.
Commission Schedule: The following represents the "net"
commission due from the seller after we collect and credit the 5%
"Buyer's Premium" to the gross commission (as explained in the
consignment contract).
*commission schedule is subject to change before the completion of any contract
** $200 "Block Fee" will be credited toward the "gross" commission if the car sells
Remember that the 5% Buyers Premium being collected by the
Auctioneer belongs to the seller, so if sold, your total commission
will be the "net" amount shown above plus the 5% "Buyer's
Premium".
